Favorite photos from Davis Cup

Spirited celebration is part of sport.

As for this? I have no words.

Bless Rafa for his insistence on maintaining his perma-smile, even in the most excruciating times

I think we’ve spotted the weakest link on the Spanish Davis Cup team.  Since he’s made it so easy for me, I’ll bite and have a go.  Ferdasco was one-half of a doubles team (with long-term partner-in-crime Feli) that lost in the worst performance Spain has ever given in the Davis Cup.  Ferdasco was thusly assigned dead-rubber duty against Gasquet after Nadal had already clinched the win for Spain.  Ferdasco won the match.  I’ve never seen Fernando Verdasco look happier than he does here.  Rumor has it this matador jacket is an Adidas creation.  Given their recent monstrosities I wouldn’t put it past them.

Say what you will about the dysfunctional, self-sabotaging dynamics of Team Argentina, but they would never be caught dressed in anything so inherently laughable.  Although at this point, they’d much rather win a Davis Cup…

About mariposaxprs

I play favorites with Juan Martin Del Potro, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, David Ferrer, Feliciano Lopez, Gilles Simon and the long line of mercurial talent that drives me to despair in front of the screen at odd hours during the week.
