Team Argentina presser:
Team Argentina. Keep (not) smiling! And many wishes sent their way that the rainbow shines over Parque Roca at the end of this year.
DelPo appears in a short interview where he discusses the upcoming tie. The reporter makes the mistake of asking DelPo how he feels about returning to clay after almost a year of not playing on it. Which wouldn’t make sense, because just last December, he was playing on the red dirt. DelPo does an epic eyebrow raise and corrects the reporter (at 0:25). How dare you, reporter. How dare you.
In a longer interview, both DelPo and Nalby spoke about the tie against Croatia. DelPo reaffirmed his commitment to DC and Argentina. He also clearly states that he has his concomitant priorities on the tour as well, but that in his mind, he’s always playing as an Argentine, representing his country. I think that’s as fair and clear of a statement as it can get.
Nalby gave an exclusive interview with Télam, where he spoke about ARG’s need to win the three rubbers in order to secure the QF tie. In his matter of fact way, Nalby said that while the rankings, court surface and home advantage tilted the odds in ARG’s favor, that the tie is won out on the tennis court. ARG still faces a tough task in defeating Croatia.
Cilic, for his part, mentioned DelPo was playing better and incredible tennis with each match, while Nalby at Davis Cup would be a tough prospect to beat.
The Davis Cup draw will be held at 11AM (local time) on Thursday this week.
